The foolish dreamer

“The key to realizing a dream is to focus not on success but
significance-and then even the small steps and little victories
along your path will take on greater meaning.”
~ Oprah Winfrey

One of the amazing things we have been given as humans is the unquenchable desire to have dreams of a better life. Ever since childhood, our minds explore various dimensions of how we would like our life and that of our loved ones to be. I mean, think about it; we can sit in one place and paint the prettiest and probably the most vivid picture of an ideal future. Not just that, we also have the immense abilities to strategize and plan out memoirs to pursue those dreams. It’s one of the most amazing strengths we have.

In all this hustle to keep moving forward with the busy, competitive crowd, how many of us actually halt to listen? Listen, not to others but to ourselves. Our minds, our hearts and our souls. How many times have we tried to reflect with ourselves and figure out what we truly want for ourselves. Your dreams are there. Everyone has them. They may live right on the surface, or they may be buried deep from years of others telling you they were foolish, but, either way, they are there.

Maybe when you expressed them out loud, they were waived off as stupid, unrealistic or outlandish. Maybe they seem impossible and far-fetched to conquer now. Maybe it was never even meant to be. But how can you know it wasn’t meant to be, if you give up too soon? How can you stop listening to every beat of your heart within, just to abide by the norms of society and satisfy familial expectations? It is indeed beyond my understanding when they say “Don’t dream. It’s a waste of time”, because dreams are OUR REALITIES IN WAITING and the minute we stop dreaming, we lose all reason to live.

So to all of you out there who’s dreams were crushed, who were told that your dreams wouldn’t make it in the real world, or who’ve ceased to dream because it felt like it wasn’t worth it, awaken the foolish dreamer within you, for the biggest adventure you can take is to live the life of your dreams!

Remember,  these are the dreams and goals that are born out of your heart and mind. These are the goals unique to you and that come from who you were created to be and gifted to become.
